The Indian bar and wire rod mill has been experiencing high roll ring consumption costs per ton of steel since the wire rod mill went into operation. To solve this problem, the bar and wire rod mill procurement sought our help and we suggested that they should replace their roll rings with carbide roll rings and that they could try using the reduction work of the roll rings of the mill reduction unit. They said they would try it and give us feedback after a period of trial.

A few months after the delivery of the carbide roll rings, they gave us feedback that the roll rings were of good quality and that the reduction method was feasible, and that by reducing the diameter of the roll rings, the normal use of each roll ring could reach more than 20 times, significantly increasing the utilisation rate of the roll rings and reducing the tonnage of steel consumed by the roll rings. After a period of comparison, the wire rod finishing mill and the reduction unit are now all using reduced diameter roll rings for production. In addition, we have redesigned and optimised some of the hole shapes to improve the shape of the sorties and reduce the wear and tear of the tungsten carbide roller rings; we have also repaired the old roller rings, flattened the old hole shapes that cannot be used anymore and turned new ones to continue using them.

The tungsten carbide roller ring has been improved through a series of efforts, allowing them to produce efficiently, improve quality, reduce costs and increase revenue at the same time. The customer expressed their gratitude and hope for a long term win-win cooperation in the future.
